Viral Marketing – Guy jumping into a frozen pool!

Viral Marketing

Just came across a viral video these days, of a guy jumping into a frozen pool.

I’m thinking, why not use this for marketing? If you’re a big company I would immediately snatch the marketing rights for this video and repack it into a commercial for TV or banners for offline promotions.

I mean, think about it, what does it really mean for a video to go viral? It’s just people loving it. That’s exactly the feeling which Coca-Cola wants to be associated with it’s brand.

Why don’t big companies follow the trends on which people are embarking? Probably the heads of marketing at Coca-Cola are just a bit too old or washed up to keep up with online trends?

What do you think?

Sorry, but I totally disagree. There not a relation between “go viral” and loving something. What’s the message of this video? What’s the thing CocaCola wants to communicate… There is a thousands of reasons why are sharing videos and there is a big difference between the amount of views and a positive commercial.

So you are saying that when a video goes viral, e.g. people share it, the main reason why they share isn’t that they like it, but what? I know you could find some another reasons from time to time, but I think in the majority of cases they like what they saw so that’s why they share it. People like Gangam Style song, that’s why they show it to their friends. I really didn’t get your comment, be more specific.
